i love a birthday...and the great outdoors

We are loving the spring weather and have been working hard on the landscaping around the house. It has been naked for some time now, and was in dire need of some color!  We had one lonely crepe myrtle in front of the house and decided to put azaleas on each side of it.  They're 'flush', which is a pretty pale pink.  We were going to go with white, but thought it might look blah against the white trim.

We also planted a gift from my mom and dad...what we call "Bon-Ball" (I name everything...it's something I got from my dad). It's a snowball bush they had growing in one of their flower beds, so they dug it up and brought it to us. It needs much prayer and TLC. It stayed in a bucket for a week without being put in the ground. The leaves smelled rotten and my mom had patched the roots with her knee-highs. Needless to say, it'll be a miracle if she makes it!!!

Bon-Ball in her new home

For my birthday, John David made a magnetic chalkboard for our kitchen. The frame is made from wood out of his Papa's barn in Louisiana. It's so special to us and will highlight the weeks events amongst other things.

The bull, or 'Bully' as John David calls it, is a souvenir from our honeymoon. We just couldn't pass him up! He guards the chalk.

Sadly, it's supposed to rain here tomorrow, so we will be working inside all day.  Bon-Ball could use some rain, so we're thankful.  We might hang some wedding pictures or even get crazy and paint something.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  Happy Friday!
