sunny seagrove...

We're back...with tans to prove it!  Well, some of us have more of a burn (Chams) because of the "base burn" theory:  no sunscreen for the first hour in the sun will help the tan stick.  Either way, we're back in the Ham and ready to face reality again.

The trip down was a fiasco.  The anticipated 4 1/2 hour drive down turned into 7 hours.  We started around 6:30 travelling south, and somewhere around Opp missed a turn.  We really realize it until we were over 1 1/2 hours off route.  Nightmare.  Thanks to modern iphone technology, Chams was able to navigate us back on some sort of course to Seagrove.  We travelled roads not frequently travelled and arrived, with me in the pilot seat, at a strong 1:30 am Thursday morning.  Not the best way to start a vaca.

The rest of the trip was uneventful...just the way we like to spend a beach vaca.

We usually take our summer beach trip to quiet Mexico Beach but with a bit of a wild hair, Stevo decided to go somewhere different.  Once there, we quickly realized that Seagrove was a great choice.  The beaches were not crowded with ample room for our spread, and it's only a short drive to civilization (aka food).

Everyone had books for the days at the beach...yes, even me and Chams.  With the advice of my good friend Liz, my book choice was:

Incredible book.  I finished it in 2 days...shocking!  I even had two sweet ladies stop to comment on the book and how they'd enjoyed it.  I will say it's for an adult audience though, having a few choice words, but other than that, just a great read. I'm thrilled about the movie coming out in a couple of months, and have told Chams it's going to be a major date night, movie night!

Most of our time was spent at the beach.  Bon's theory is you don't go to the beach to do anything else.  I don't think she took a break from the sun for one minute.  By day three, Chams and I cut our day short for a no-sun, AC break.  The "base burn" didn't help things, either.

We asked several people the best place to eat while we were down there, and every single one of them said the Red Bar.  They weren't kidding.

This place was amazing.  The 1 1/2 hour wait was 100% worth it!  Bon and Chams had the seafood stuffed eggplant, the top runner in my boat, but I really don't think you could go wrong with any of the 6 items on the menu.  It's good eatin at a very reasonable price!

The other places we tried were great as well (Gravel Road, Shrimp Shack, Southern Cafe), but nothing compared to the Red Bar.

The second night on the town, we went on a wild goose chase to find Miss. Lucille's for an ice cream treat.

There something about ice cream and the beach...they just go hand in hand.

Don't we all look nice and sun-kissed??

We made it back Sunday, this time travelling the short route, and stopped in at Matthew and Sarah's for a Father's Day/Chams Birthday Celebration.

Chams with his birthday treat.

Leave it to the Brew to find a bacon topped cupcake for the birthday boy.  There couldn't be anything more fitting for the ole' boy.

We had a wonderful time rounding out the trip and celebrating two important men in our lives!  We have one special pop that has always loved us and provided for us, and I've got one sweet Chams that I just adore.
