As my absence has probably given away, Chams, jr. has made his long anticipated arrival!!
The big day was Saturday March 3rd. He came at 9:38 am via scheduled c-section, and was 8 pounds 1 ounce and 20 inches long!
Chams and I had an appointment on the Tuesday before, February 28th, that left us somewhat hopeful that the little guy would make his appearance on his own. But, at a follow up appointment that Friday, the doctor couldn't tell his positioning. During the ultrasound, we saw that he was in fact not in the pelvis, and measured an estimated whopping 9+ pounds. It was determined that if we went with the scheduled induction on Monday, March 5th, it'd be a long day of laboring with, more than likely, a c-section ending. Not appealing.
After talking to our doctor, we decided it'd just be best to go ahead and schedule a c-section...and why wait until Monday?? So, Saturday was the day. It took Chams a little while to register that Chams, jr. would come the next day, but the sooner the better for this 9+ month prego girl!!
We checked into the hospital at 7:00 am on Saturday, March 3rd, and it was game on after that. After an IV and epidural block, I was wheeled into the operating room where Chams, jr. arrived shortly thereafter.
It was such a surreal moment, all the noises and activity in the room. The doctors were amazing...before we knew it, our little one was here and crying. Music to our ears!
Recovery and getting to our room took a long while. It seemed even longer for the impatient and anxious grandparents, family and friends in the waiting room. Once we opened the gates, they were all absolutely thrilled to get their hands on the little addition!
Some of the sweetest moments at the hospital was with our new little family of three...
It's funny how much you lean on each other when it's just two, but with a little one in the mix, it's a whole new level of leaning. Chams changed all but around 2 diapers during our stay...such a trooper!
And to make our stay even better, just two floors above us was our dear friends, the Barley's and their newest little addition. Baby B came two days before Chams, jr. Before they were sent home, the two buddies had to finally meet!
After three nights in the hospital, it was time for the Chambless party of three to go home. Chams and I both decided that an extra night in the hospital wouldn't have been too bad...they sure did take good care of us. But it felt good to be home and start figuring out parenthood on our own.
We feel so blessed to finally have Chams, jr. here...he's a little miracle from above. The last 9 months have flown by so fast, and the past 2 weeks with our little one has flown by even faster. We're trying to savor every moment...
I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works, my soul knows it very well. Psalm 139:14
