Birmingham had wonderful, cooler weather, the Tide won their first game of the season and we spent the weekend in St. Joe Beach with family. The weekend couldn't have been better.
A couple of years ago, we decided we would try somewhere different for our annual beach trip...which took us to Mexico Beach, Florida. It's truly a diamond in the rough. It's a nice, relaxing, quiet beach east of Panama City where the sand is white, and there's plenty of room to spread out.
There's not much to do there besides go to the beach, but what else do you need?!? A short drive away are several great restaurants and the Bay area, which is just beautiful.
We mostly stayed at the beach, enjoying some quality family time and catching up on some rest...but for us, the highlight of the trip for the past two years is a trip to Apalachicola. We just love it there. The shops are small and unique, the water is close and it's home to one of our favorite restaurants.
Boss Oyster House is right on the water and serves up Apalachicola's famous fresh oysters. I'm not a huge fan, but the hubby sure is. They have plenty more delicious dishes for the non-oyster lover.
Even though I can't stand a nice hot shower and have already started to peel, it was a great weekend.
I hope all of you had a wonderful and relaxing Labor Day weekend, too!
