Birmingham has so many great events that happen year around and this past Sunday, a new one was added to the list. It's called "Hot Strings" Bluegrass Festival and benefits a great cause - The Foundry Rescue Mission and Recovery Center.
The Downs and Chambless crew enjoyed the afternoon of music celebrating Dad's birthday. We all love bluegrass music (some more than others) and had such a wonderful time despite the extreme Alabama heat and a surprise afternoon shower.
I have never been to Sloss Furnaces before and this was the perfect event to go. The setting couldn't have been better for some great bluegrass bands.
There were also several craft vendors to check out, and a "jam session" tent where you could strum along with some other great musicians.

The band favorite of our crew was the Newgrass Troubadours, who played some great bluegrass mixed with some classic rock favorites.
Hot Strings is such a great event...one that the Chambless and Downs crew will attend again!
